The Mansfield school district election proceeded quietly last Tuesday with 26 votes cast and a levy approved by about four to one. It also saw 253 in favor of a nine month school term and 24 against. Geo L B Freeman and John W Brentlinger elected directors for three years. City results show J E Craig elected mayor with 59 votes in the first ward and 108 in the second, Harper Cantrell and M E Stephens among others in ward races.
The Mansfield Chamber of Commerce Sales Day committee led by A. J. Wilder Roy R. Dennis and W. B. Hitchcock met to plan a first sale to be held Saturday April 30 on lots behind Carter and Beach Garage and the Hitchcock Building. Roy Dennis offers free auctioneering and the Mirror will publish sale listings. Local merchants promise special bargains and the Mansfield Concert Band directed by J. B. Crouch will make its first public appearance that day. Further plans to be announced at tonight's chamber meeting.
Miss Grace Craig hosted an April Pool style April Fool party last Friday evening on Hartville road. Guests enjoyed wit music and games with jokes such as napkins used as rugs and refreshments in lemon peel cups. Favors included tiny April shower umbrellas concealing a hidden April fool. the evening closed with candy and peanut tribute sacks. Attendees included Mr and Mrs G O Freeman Mrs Frank Beach Lois Beach Effie Cantrell Hazel Dalglish Luther Fly Jasper Craig Hobart Hensley J L Crouch.
