The Manito Boy Scout Troop marks Scout Week February 6 to 12 with a planned February 7 party and a store window display by Julius Zeeck. The article recounts Boy Scouts of America origins and the scout oath and laws.
The Mary-Joseph Class of Manilo Methodist Church met January 28 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Golden. Reuben Golden led devotions and the business meeting, followed by contests with prizes to Joan Reed, Mary Meeker, Eleanor Schmitgall, and Paul Meeker. Refreshments served to guests including the Meekers, Schamm and Schmitgall families, Dewayne Thomas, and others.
Forman High School defeated Bath Lynchburg 58 to 42 Friday night to extend their season to 12 wins. Van Etten led Forman with 16 points, Sunderland added 10 as the team led 12-12 after the first quarter and pulled away afterward. In the preliminary, Forman also won 21-17.
The Manito Methodist Sunday School reports its best perfect attendance in years for 1951. Names listed include Mrs. Ralph Ethell with 21 years and multiple children ranging from 17 to 1 year, highlighting strong ongoing participation across generations.

Service News reports Eugene Caulkins USMC departed Camp Pendleton California after furlough with family. He traveled with wife and parents to St Louis before boarding a plane to his marine base in California.
Pfc Wayne Durham USMC arrived home from San Diego California Monday evening after a short detention for dental work. He begins a 10 day leave with wife Alice and parents Mr and Mrs Fred Durham. Pvt Stanley Meyer and Pvt Thomas Strawbridge finished basic training at Lackland AFB San Antonio Texas and their parents await address changes.

Mr and Mrs Wayne Mitchell hosted their pinochle club Saturday evening. After an evening of pinochle refreshments were served and prizes presented. Present were Mr and Mrs Wm Waddell Vernon Graff Richard Thomas Norman Thomas Norman White Earle Thomas Ralph Schmidt James Waddell and Clifford Talbott.
Relatives and friends gathered at Mr and Mrs Ernest Palmers home on Sunday to celebrate Mrs Palmers birthday. A potluck buffet dinner at 1:00 featured a birthday cake by Christine Johnson, with cards and visiting afternoon and evening. Mrs. W. S. Maloney says her husband’s condition remains unchanged as he receives care. Cards may be sent to St. Frances Hospital in Peoria. Mrs. Anna Mae Peterson has returned home after a several day hospital stay in Pekin.
The Forman School Club announced at the January 21 meeting that a December home talent show titled Aunt Emma Sees It Through raised 224.30 in clear proceeds.
Jake Guile arrived in town on Friday noon by bus from Carter Wyoming. He has worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for ten years and is on a thirty day vacation from his duties as road foreman. He compares the mild winter to his previous work in subzero temperatures. He has suffered only one asthma attack during his ten years in Wyoming.
Jeanette Dunn and Henry Fischer were married Monday January 28 at 1 30 p m in the Palmyra Missouri Methodist parsonage with Rev Peacock officiating. The couple will live in Manito in the Robinson house and were joined by guests including Mr and Mrs George Grob.
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Meeker celebrate a 1927 anniversary while Mr. and Mrs. A Lee Henson Sr mark 1908, Mr. and Mrs. Dillard Warner 1926, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Richardson 1933 in a community observance.

A capacity crowd witnessed the 33rd Mason County basketball playoff with Forman edging San Jose 48 46 as Van Etten hit the winning shot. Easton defeated Bath 64 32, Havana crushed Kilbourne 74 19, and semi finals matched Forman vs Mason City.
Wednesday 11 30 assembly days feature Mrs Herman presenting Eighth Grade girls in a musical program with piano solos choruses and a playlet. Earlier Mr Skinner hosted Supt Joseph Hobbs who spoke on John Greenleaf Whittier with photos from his Cambridge home. Basketball schedule lists Green Valley and Easton games set for February 4 and 11 at Forest City.
