Banquet Honors Forman Braves Wednesday Eve

Venison from a northern Wisconsin hunting trip headed the menu at a Forman Braves banquet held at Monroe's Cafe Wednesday Evening. Manito business leaders and supporters funded the event with many locals donating expenses while the team, coach, manager, cheerleaders, and Forman High faculty were seated for the meal. The menu featured tomato juice venison steak potatoes gravy buttered corn salad radishes celery hot rolls coffee ice cream and cookies.

Local Peoria Family Plans Move to Belleville

Mr and Mrs James Seelye entertained in honor of their niece Mrs Loren Glock of Peoria. The Glock family including three daughters Barbara Kathleen and Mrs Chyde Ulrich will relocate to Belleville Illinois to be closer to Mr Glock’s business. Guests included Mrs Loren Glock and daughters, Mrs Chyde Ulrich, Tess Velde George Meyer and Mrs Wayne Wistehuff.

Mrs Juanita Faulkner welcomed Altar and Rosary Society members at her home on Monday evening with Mrs Emma Hart as co host. Mary J Vaughn president led the business session after which members played a game with prizes awarded to Mrs David Reynolds Mrs Grover Gumbel Miss Nora Cannon and travel prizes to Mrs Johanna Eidman. Marine corporal on 30 day furlough home in Forest City

Cpl. Gerald Folkman of the Tenth Marine Corps is on a thirty day furlough at his mother Mrs. Lucinda E. Folkman’s home in Forest City. He recently served at Camp Lejeune and spent three months in the Caribbean and will report to Camp Pendleton California after his leave.

Dinner Honors Mrs Rankin Birthday Celebration

Mrs Christine Johnson and son Alvin entertained in honor of their friend Mrs Jennie Rankin on Monday at their home. A noon dinner featured a pink and yellow birthday cake and ice cream for dessert. Double Ring Wedding in Calloway Home

Donna Lee Calloway and Paul B Meeker wed in a double ring ceremony Friday January 11 at 7 30 pm officiated by Rev D J Powell. The bride wears beige with red roses while Kath ryn Meeker attends in navy with pink carnations. The groom’s brother Clyde Meeker is best man and a reception followed at the Calloway home. The couple plans to live near Manito after a wedding trip south.

Pfe Nelson E Caulkins USMC arrived home Wednesday morning for a furlough after basic training. Jiggs left San Diego at 10 30 a m Tuesday flew to St Louis arriving 4 10 a m Wednesday and reached town by bus at 10 00 Wednesday morning.

Mason County Council to Meet at Havana

The Mason County Council of the American Legion and Auxiliary will gather at the Havana Post on January 28 for a 6 30 p m pot-luck supper and joint meeting. Each member should bring table service a covered dish and sandwiches. Entertainment will be provided by the Havana Post and all Hill Palmer Post members are urged to attend.

County Tournament Set to Open January 29

Mason City earns top seed in the Mason County tournament after coaches met in Easton. Teams listed include Easton Forman Havana Bath Lynchburg San Jose Kilbourne. The Forman gym hosts games January 29 and 30 and February 1 and 2 with two games per night except February 2 when the final is played. Forman opens January 29 vs San Jose and Easton faces Bath. Havana vs Kilbourne and Mason City vs the Forman San Jose winner are slated for January 30.

Mason County to Have Oil Pipeline 26 Inch Crude Line Planned

The Sinclair Pipe Line Company plans a 26 inch crude oil pipeline through Mason County from southwestern fields to refining areas in Illinois and Indiana. Construction would start about 3 miles south of Havana and run across the county to the southeast boundary near Manito before entering Tazewell county. A Mason County pumping station will employ about 6 to 8 men.

The Forman School Club will hold its regular meeting on Monday January 21 at Forman Senior High School in the old gym now used as a study hall. Mrs Crafton is program chairman and an interesting evening is planned.

A jam packed Forman gym watched the Braves lose to Mason City 63 45 Tuesday night. Lawliss led Forman with 16 points, Heyl had 10, Van Etten 7 as both teams battled hard, creating a late suspenseful finish.
