FHA Title I repairs aid Pekin homeowners with affordable loans
The FHA Title I repair program helps many Pekin Illinois homeowners improve their properties with low monthly payments. Critics say a few out of town operators exploited the system, but the National Retail Lumber Dealers Association backs tightening rules and expanding repayment terms from three to five years and raising the borrowing limit from 2500 to 3000 dollars. Commissioner Norman Mason, a former retail lumber executive, is praised for understanding Title I and aiming to serve the public while curbing abuses.
