Tomato seed disinfection guidelines from Agriculture branch
The Biological branch of the Department of Agriculture advises disinfecting tomato seed before planting. Use copper oxychloride or mercury dust, 1 level teaspoon per pound seed for copper and a quarter to half teaspoon for mercury, dust seed in a container. If seed origin is doubtful, soak in 0.6 percent acetic acid for 24 hours, then dry and dust as above. Growers should preserve their own seed from healthy plants and limit new seed introductions unless needed.
