Manilla Court Fines for Uninsured Unregistered Vehicles

The Home and Family Week Movement begun in England has spread to Australia and is held in Tamworth Town Hall from Monday the 26th to Sunday November 1st. Gunnedah Quirindi and Manilla organise shorter periods. Attended by public bodies and local citizens, the program covers physical mental social and moral family life. Manilla events run from the 21st to 26th at Methodist Hall Rural School and Church of England with details to follow. Rev. Legacy Remembrance Week Appeal Totals and Winner
The Tamworth Legacy Appeal for Remembrance Week raised 2250 pounds and 15 shillings nine pence. Manilla and District contributed 114 pounds nine pence six farthings, with district residents sending 36 pounds six pence directly, a guessing competition at 1 pound 13 pence, and button sales plus donations totaling 16 pounds 10 pence. The inner spring mattress guessing prize was drawn publicly at Tamworth Bowling Club. winner Mr Tom Roger, c/o Golf Club House Tamworth, ticket 1819. Local contractors J Coates and D Kennedy thank the public for strong support during Remembrance Week, noting last year’s turnout around 11,000 people.

Successful Two Day Race Meeting at Manilla Club
The Manilla Race Club staged its most successful two day meeting on the local course last weekend with record gate takings and big crowds. C Kelly rode seven winners over the two days including Granada in the Club Handicap and Vaporata in the Presidents Handicap, while Wilwarra and Quarrie also saluted. Monday’s program saw Vaporata win the Presidents Handicap and Kelly notch four more with Cheta, Pleasant Day, and two others.
