Manilla man fined for letting unlicensed driver operate vehicle
William BE. Roach was fined £4 in Manilla Court for permitting an unlicensed driver Oscar G. Wicks to drive. Wicks was the vehicle’s operator when, on 17 April, a tyre blew on a steep hill causing a crash. Roach claimed he did not check Wicks’s license. Wicks faced separate charges for driving unlicensed and failing to report the accident, adjourned to 27 October.

In a rugged handycapped event at Don Perio the chief Brim Chief ridden by O Bald won by two lengths over Don Perio with Ralston third. Alpine Gold and Turnix placed further back as bettors favored Brin Chief at 2 to 1 and Don Perio at 3 to 1. Second race featured Little Soldier clear favorite who won by a length from All Jeep with Gypsy Lou in third. Aqua Park led the improv ers at six furlongs with a strong late run to seal the win for Aqua Park at 5 to 2 betting.
