Manilla Business Mens Association Meets for Civic Proposals
The Manilla Business Mens Association meeting led by J N Kennedy discussed several motions. A motion to make Saturday the half holiday was defeated by 20 votes. The club approved closing for the Manilla Race Club event on November 18 with proceeds to Red Cross and POW funds, and requested a public holiday starting at 12 30 pm. The Ministry of Post War Reconstruction advised applying for housing quotas. Support was given to a Meat Works by Farmers and Settlers Association, calls for reliable electricity water and stock, and improvements to the Manilla Police Station. The president and secretary will consult with Sgt. Rowlison on station upgrades. A 3 15 pm to 4 pm Saturday rally closure was approved for October 21. Proposals were made for a Plane Landing Site, and inclusion of Manilla in a Premier led Art Exhibition itinerary for four country towns.
