The Manilla Football Club held a richly decorated annual dinner with players, parents, and guests including Cr G S R Park and J Finn. Speakers praised the season, thanked Tamworth League figures, and pledged continued club support, with toasts to donors ladies auxiliary and officials.
The Internal Intermediate Examination starts Monday and Primary Yearly Examinations begin next week. Mrs. Macey, a CWA NSW foundation member, attended. Tumut scenoo raised over £1000 from sale of young trees. An 11 year old won first prize at The Entrance fete for an orange cake. Wee Waa Hospital Auxiliary funds a new burner. A film on Teaching Young Children prompted a parent–staff discussion.
Professor Vaisey will conduct lectures and practical work over Thursday to Saturday nights and lead a Sunday field excursion for local residents in Manilla. Seventeen have already signified attendance. others may enroll at Memorial Hall before 8 pm on Thursday November 14. The course aims to teach identification of rocks using common rock forming minerals, with class examinations of materials after each lecture.
The Leaving Certificate was said to be worth at least £10,000 to the average boy over a working life. Two years of study in the 5th and 6th years were highlighted as crucial, training children to think clearly and prepare for adult life. A certificate holder could earn about £4 more per week than a boy with only an Intermediate Certificate.
