Mary Jane Williams died March 24 at Manila District Hospital aged 84. Trained as a nurse she ran a private nursing home on Railway Hill for forty years aiding mothers and babies. Survived by four daughters Mrs Young Barraba Mrs Hartley Manila Mrs Taylor Newcastle Mrs Clyde McDonald Manila, sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral at the Manila Methodist Church conducted by Rev R G White.
Mr W J Senily told Parliament last week that subsidy payments for quota wheat under the Wheat Plan were higher than anticipated receipts from pools. He said costs of the Pool including freight would be about 10d a bushel and that the government would incur a loss on this wheat.
