Chairman Hi R. Meynink reports a successful year at the mineral general meeting in Sydney on June 2. Despite severe recent turmoil in Australia with strikes, staff shortages, and high taxation, the year’s work was satisfactory. The company thanks its staff and notes world events pushing synthetic materials, while wool remains valued for its sterling qualities.
A regional conference of the North Western Wheat Growers Union Division Council passed numerous motions for the State Conference. Proposals covered continuing engagement with the A.W.B. on wheat and corn handling, delaying silo quota delivery policies, keeping yards open for longer periods, and pushing for a national wheat pool within a referendum. Delegates urged better tractor tyre supply, support for erosion prevention, and educational tax deductions, with calls for producer representation and compulsory wheat grower membership in state bodies allied with the Australian Wheat Federation.
Caution to all persons not to trespass or remove wood from Bigbri Estate from this date with prosecution threatened. All stray stock to be impounded. Previous permissions cancelled. Signed Miss M Baldwin dated 28/0/1044.
