The Season Promising Rain Delay Affects Planting
After two weeks of good weather a promised rain on Friday brought only light showers. Farmers in Manila district have planted most of the season's crop by week end. About 50 000 acres are under crop with 5 000 acres in oats or grazing crops. Roughly 10 percent of the remainder will be cut for hay leaving about 42 50 acres for grain. A green shoot appears on grazing land and more rain would boost sheep feed. Sheep should be in strong condition for shearing around mid August.
