Annual Tennis Tournament Shines on Queens Birthday Weekend
More than 100 players from Sydney through Tamworth and Manilla competed in a marquee tennis event. Notable results include Miss Shirley Sing winning the Ladies Handicap Singles and Elaine Holstein of Nowendoc defeating Verna Ashford of Scone in the Open Ladies final in three sets. The Open Championship also highlighted tight men’s and ladies finals, with strong performances from local and visiting players. Barraba and Manilla hosted a lively weekend with a Saturday dance and expressions of pride in the tournament’s growing regional stature.
