Tragedy in Manilla Ends with Couple's Deaths
In Manilla on Tuesday night an elderly couple Charles Robert Bayliss and Emily Ann Bayliss died following a sequence of illness and grief. After her death at Manilla District Hospital the husband shot himself at their Market Street cottage. A stockman Owen Jones found the man’s body near the Nainot bank with powder blackening, suggesting close range. Police moved both bodies to the morgue and an inquest led by Coroner J N Kennedy returned a verdict of death by self harm while mentally deranged.
