Renovations to Showground Committee's Decision
The Showground committee chaired by President B V Byrnes met with 15 of 45 members present to discuss enlarging and rearranging the grounds. G F B Grill proposed fencing the southern land and moving pavilions and exhibits there at an estimated cost of 780 to 850 pounds, with possible savings from voluntary labor. An amendment to extend the Showground area by river street was defeated. the amendment became the motion and passed.

The Manilla Agricultural Society met at the Mechanics Institute on Friday night and approved higher admission for adults from 3 to 4 shillings. The notice of motion proposed raising the membership fee from 1 1 0 to 1 10 6, to be discussed at a special general meeting. A sub committee was formed to explore modified Olympic Jumping contests, and ring clerks were urged to wear regalia. Permission was granted to use the pavilion for badminton one night per week at 50 per night. The roster added R Fletcher as a ring steward. Australia’s cattle population stands around 15 million, and a Sydney motor show is planned for the Royal Tour next year.

Halls Creek Progress Association urged reconsideration of a prior decision to install pipe culverts at the Black Gully crossing near Ukalon homestead. Engineer Jochimson warned pipes would fail to handle drainage from an eight square mile catchment, favoring a concrete causeway funded by grants. Council advised the Association it would not reverse its decision. Other bids include traffic signs at 14 and 17 mile pegs, Spring Creek crossing work on Bungendore road, and a Bungendore deviation proposal.
