Homecoming Tale of Pte Green From War to Manilla

Private PT Green, after nearly three years in German hands, returns to Manilla with a war record of desert to captivity. He enlisted in 1939 and served in the Middle East Greece and Tobruk, survived a sinking, and spent 1943 in Sal onika and Stalag 8B Breslau. He recalls hospitalisation, dysentery, and Red Cross aid, detailing camp life, rations, and harsh conditions. He plans to visit his aged father in Wingham before rejoining family wife and two sons Ron and Dennis.

Hospital Board Considers Kitchen Draining Boards Purchase

The Manilié Hospital Board discussed buying two metal draining boards for the kitchen sink at about £26 to £35, with a 10 ft 3 in by 2 ft 2 in size. Mr. J. N. Kennedy urged immediate purchase via the Commission, and a £38 board was also approved for purchase. The president was Mr. H. V. Dowe. other members included Messrs. J D Kennedy, A. C. Voness, KJ. N. Kennedy, R. H. Hudson, M. Park, G. A. White and E. Bowman. Leave of absence granted to Mr. W. C. Mannder. The Commission forwarded £88/6/8 subsidy.
