Stubble Straw urged to ease coming fodder shortage
Minister for Adricature Mr B A Gratin appeals arid oat growers with fair stubble to save the straw. He warns a serious fodder shortage is likely next year and urges use of every possible supply. Straw previously saved could yield up to half a ton per acre, totaling 300 000 to 400 000 tons, with prices about £6 per ton. Farmers are urged to maximize straw retention to avoid deterioration in value.
