Manilla Cattle and Sheep Sale Reported Strong Clearance
My Y. J. Byres reports the Manilla sale held on 17 August 1944 yarded 1,100 cattle and 2,000 sheep with near total clearance. Over 600 bullocks and heavy steers led demand from fattening and station buyers as fat cattle eased about a pound per load versus the previous sale. Sheep prices were solid with good demand for fat and mixed lines, including pure Hereford steers and Jersey heifers among numerous lots with varied prices and weights.
