The Tick Board Control announced last week that cattle ticks in the Lismore area have developed immunity to arsenic, undermining district control efforts. Arsenic failed to curb infestations in Gracey’s Creek. Chairman Mr GC Blumer faced six digs with DDT and one with BHC to manage the problem, with samples sent to Yerongpilly and Brishangs for testing and results expected within five weeks. Cattle dipped in DDT were cleaned out and restocked with arsenic, but ticks survived.
