The Manilla Race Club held its annual meeting at the Manilla Hospital Womens Auxiliary with officers elected for the ensuing year. President Mrs J Mitchell Vice Presidents Mrs Browne Mrs Hook Mrs Coulton Mrs West Treasurer Mrs A Brett Secretary Miss J Staples. The report notes six racing dates, five run, with the February Cup outstanding and profit mainly from the liquor booth managed by Mr Frank Coorey. Special thanks go to Mr Eric Flett and family for track maintenance and to Works Committee members A White and Miller. The Hawker Memorial is to be completed and inscribed.

Income declines in subs and gate takings contrasted with rising tote returns. prize money and taxation drop due to fewer races. The committee is urged to conserve finances, reflect assets on balance sheet, and expect a strong next year with 206 horses in 31 races.
A young motor cyclist, Roman Maikouski of Manilla, was fined £1 10s with 12s costs for riding without a rider’s licence. Police stated he was seen riding at about 5 30 pm on April 17 in Strafford Bt. when stopped he admitted he had no licence and planned to obtain one. He had no previous convictions.
