Anzac Day Celebrations in Manilla Parade and Service

Manilla marked its 39th Anzac Day with a dawn service at Memorial Hall, wreaths laid, and a 200-strong march led by A A Duprez and the Manilla RSL. The day included a memorial service at Palais Theatre with Rev H J A Emms urging courage, unity, and duty, reflecting on Gallipoli and Anzac spirit across wars and Korea.

Complaints Against Local Tennis Club Lead to Council Action

A letter by Mr J McDonald on behalf of residents cites mis conduct by Tennis Club members and late night play past midnight. It notes bad language and back lane congestion from parking. Council will write to the Club asking nuisances be abated and night play finish by 11 30 pm if possible.

Swinton shoot marks 10th stage and aggregate scores

Saturday’s shoot marked the 10th stage of the Swinton handicap over 600 yards with Ghys and Coorey aggregates counted. Top scores: Dengate 65 8, Hall 65, Hall 65, Coote 61.5, others ranged from 60.8 to 65. The next event will be for the May Challenge Cup and 12th Blair handicap. Sunday features the final Coorey Cup and NRA Spoon with 9 am start. The service later included a Pilgrimage to the cemetery by ex-Servicemen and a reunion dinner at Memorial Hall.
