Despite a dry season and grasshopper invasion, the Annual President Flower Show produced an excellent display of dahlias and zinnias. The Ladies Guild thanks donors, business houses, and attendees for support, with proceeds noted as the best ever. Results list numerous winning vessels, collections, and single entries across Flowers, Cooking, and Needlework, naming many exhibitors led by Mrs. L. McLeod, Mrs. E. W. Pryor, Mrs. M. A. Manilla Business Mens Association Annual Meeting
The Manilla Business Mens Association held its annual meeting at the Mechanics Institute on Tuesday night with poor attendance. President J C Mackenzie chaired as the treasurer A J Budden announced a 12 month ending March 30 deficit and a credit balance of £1 5 7 along with a £10 bond. Officers elected include President J C Mackenzie, vice presidents F Hayward and R C Vener, treasurer A Budden, auditor Suttle, and an industrial committee. secretary elected next meeting after L Callister declined renomination. The annual subscription rose from 10 to 15 shillings per representative. The ordinary April meeting followed, where Monash Street improvements and electric lighting at the railway goods shed were discussed. The Indo-America Fund program notes a US government grant of 10,596,000 dollars for India projects.
