Wongo Creek branch aids war effort through fundraising and donations
The Wongo Creek branch of the Country Women’s Association reports strong activity despite wartime handicaps. At the March 4 annual meeting, President Mrs James Brady and officers were re-elected. a weekly sixpence fund supported patriotic causes, with parcels sent to Manilla Red Cross and British Children’s Comforts Fund. Donations to Far West Childrens Health Scheme and hall funds totaled modest sums, and a drunken train incident in Armidale led to a Tamworth court fine.
