At the Manilla Parents and Citizens Association meeting President G E Collins praised staff and students for the show exhibit. A V Jackson paid tribute to J Haining, and the Education Department plans a public works report on installing sewage at the school. Suggestions included July tree planting and an adult cancer drive for school funds. Head Mr W J Dunn proposed school badges, more supplementary readers, and additional textbooks. current annual student fee of 100 for textbooks was deemed insufficient, with the association funding urgent needs. Membership fees to rise to 20 per member. Love to canvass for new members. Education Department will cover one telephone rental cost in future.

Subsidy Increase for Manilla Hospital Subsidy Boost
The Hospital's Commission told the Manilla District Hospital Board that extra funds are available, raising the annual subsidy by 3000 pounds from 1 February to offset the Basic Wage rise. This increase does not relate to the board's general subsidy request, which is under consideration. The executive is authorized to advance the subsidy increase effort.

Applications to Build Granted at Municipal Meeting
At the last monthly meeting of the Municipal Council, applications were granted for several building projects. Grant approvals include W A Gardner for a timber and fibro garage on Manilla Street, H W Carter additions to a dwelling, A L Wark an addition to a garage, R A Lund a fibro cottage on Northbrook Lane, B Goldthorpe a weatherboard cottage, and E J May a fibro garage to be used as a temporary dwelling with conditions. Subdivision approval was also given to divide Lot 9 Section 28 Rowan Street into a smaller 22 1/4 perches lot as submitted by I J Baldwin.
