Manilla Scout Hall to be rebuilt after demolition plans

At the Manilla Boy Scouts monthly meeting it was decided the brick frontage hall is dangerous and must be demolished with a new weatherboard wall. Tenders will be called for demolition and rebuilding as public donations are sought to fund renovations. A Girl Guide troop will be formed in Manilla with training days held near Tamworth.

Hospital Finances Show Ongoing Deficit Despite Subsidies

Hospital finances remain in a serious deficit with a February debit balance of £418 10 0 after receipts total £789 10 6, including £649 subsidy, while February expenditures were £667 13 3. Maternity Ward Building Fund stands at £1826 16 4 and Amenities Fund at £2927 16 6.

Anzac Ball planned by Manilla RSS&ASLA group

Organising Secretary Mr R Fagan told Manilla RSS and ASLA members that preparations for the 1952 Anzac Ball on Friday April 18 are proceeding. Committee has bought 83 yards of red white and blue bunting for Hall decoration. About ten young ladies will debut. Ball opening by Branch President Mr A A Duprez. supper duties entrusted to Mrs Teceive.

The Town Clerk records a message from Mr Adrian on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II thanking the writer and others for their kind sympathy in the royal family’s great loss. Her Majesty greatly appreciates the thoughts of the sender and their family during this time.

Swinton Handicap rifle shoot details at 600 yards

Saturday’s ninth stage of the Swinton handicap was held at 600 yards with Ghys and Coorey aggregates counting. Notable scores include W.G. Hall 31 81 470 and J.A. Bignall 29 30 5.69, with A.A. Yates posting 24 25 49 at Lone Pine. Next week no Manilla range shoot due to the New England Rifle Club Union Shoot at Tamworth. contact the Executive if attending.

Manilla District Hospital Board Minutes Highlights

The Manilla District Hospital Board met with President Dir CC Veness presiding. A silence honored late director R H Hudson who resigned last year. Donations from W D and H O Wills were received for the General Purpose Fund. Plans for converting the Children’s Ward to a Maternity Ward were outlined after NSW Health directives. The Board will dispose of River Street land to fund the Maternity Ward. Six bedside lockers will be purchased and charged to the Amenpittes Fund. The President and Mr Coulton found the hospital well kept though the drive-in path is badly potholed.

Hospital ramps and statistics amid council notes

Attention to ramp alignment delays second ramp at the hospital until next meeting. Secretary Wilshire tabled February statistics showing hepatics patients admitted 37 that month, treated, discharged, and a hospital end-February total of 13 with daily outpatient visits and new patient numbers noted. Gifts acknowledged by the center for cables and Jeffery and Mrs Swinton.
