Billie Smith Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Billie Burden Smith 76 died March 18 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held March 20 at Mangum Church of Christ with Rex Monroe and Bob Pratt officiating. Burial at Riverside Cemetery in Mangum. She was born March 18, 1901 in Harrison Arkansas, moved to Mangum from Texas in 1937, ran a beauty shop until 1970, married Horace Greeley Smith in 1970. he died in 1973. Survived by a brother Ari Boatman and three sisters.

Tom Turkey Season Set In Two Hunts In Oklahoma
Oklahoma City area announces a month long spring tom turkey season divided into two hunts. The first runs April 1 to 16 in southern counties and the second April 16 to May in northern counties. One tom may be taken in any open county with a second allowed only in a county with a two third season limit. Two birds cannot be harvested the same day and no hunter may possess more than two birds for the month. Observations show southern activity leads northern by about two weeks. Wildlife notes indicate regional flock dynamics and nesting timing, with open eastern harvest in Mc Curtain LeFlore Ottawa Delaware and Craig Counties.

Reed News reports Mr. and Mrs. O L Davis and son Cletus took Mrs Lois Stallings to Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City for open heart surgery on Wednesday March 18. They toured the city in the afternoon and spent the night with Ozella Carpenter in Norman. On Saturday they returned home stopping at Noble to visit Buck and Buck Womack.
