Mangum Tigers Fall to Beggs in State Tourney Semis
Mangum High School boys basketball reached the Oklahoma City state tournament for the first time since 1959, finishing 21-9 after a 60-48 semifinal loss to Beggs. Ricky Bull led Mangum with 21 points in the tournament, while Shawn Slaton added 13 before fouling out. Beggs, led by Dale Taylor with 29 points, claimed the state title by beating Millwood.

An organizational meeting for Greer County mineral owners is set for March 25 at 7 p.m. in Mangum High School cafeteria. March 26 Date For Town Meeting Plans in Mangum
Oklahoma 100 Day to be held March 26 nears completion says Bert Underwood general chairman. Chloe Jones and AR L Heatly attended a seminar and told committee chairmen Monday. A six to eight member leadership team will be chosen this week. The all day meeting runs March 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mangum High School with a free lunch, entertainment and door prizes. Attendees will receive a planning book and a town meeting accomplishments leaflet. A Town Meeting Rally in Oklahoma City is set for April 2 inviting three delegates from each community to join a state wide research assembly.

Mangum Water Wells Stand Stable Amid Shortages Nearby
City Manager Don Taylor reports Mangum has ample water from seventeen wells 17 miles north, drawing from a large underground lake not refilled by rainfall. The average well depth is 90 feet with 100 gpm capacity, 2,448,000 gallons daily max, and winter use around 500,000 gallons.

Museum Membership Drive Opens
A membership drive is underway to fund continued activity at the Old Greer County Museum and Hall of Fame. Executive secretary Ray Babb notes support comes from memberships and donations. Life memberships are 25 dollars and sustaining memberships start at 100 dollars. Twenty six rooms are complete or in progress, the basement houses antique farm equipment, and a new heated half dugout with an old cookstove draws attention. Groups may use it but should be limited to under 12 people.

Shuttle Bus Service Schedules For Senior Residents
A shuttle bus operated by Southwest Oklahoma Community Action serves residents 55 and older and the physically handicapped on a Mangum Granite Elk City route. Fares are 50 cents to Granite and $1 to Elk City. Schedule runs Monday to Friday with detailed stop times and a Mangum fallback if Elk City has no passengers. Three Girls Named Mangum Girls State Delegates
Lindley Foraker Robin Goad and Diana Kennedy were chosen by the Mangum American Legion Auxiliary as Girls State delegates with Mary Greer as first alternate.
