A fund at First National Bank named for Mr and Mrs Farrell Noble of Blair helps the family after their mobile home burned early Christmas morning. Noble, paralyzed from the waist down due to a grain elevator accident, lost wheelchair and leg braces. Mrs Noble, burned, remains in an Oklahoma City hospital.

Jasper H Westbrook 68 of Mangum died December 25 after a month long illness. Services were held in Lovett Funeral Chapel with Rev K D Robertson officiating and burial followed in Pontotoc Cemetery with Graveside rites by Wapannucka Masonic Lodge 200. Born March 8 1907 in Greer County he married Velma Cole in 1925 and lived in Coalgate and Bromide before returning to Mangum in 1969. Surviving are his wife two sons a daughter a brother two sisters and six grandchildren.

Edward Dodson aged 72 died suddenly at his Mangum home on Christmas Eve. Services were held December 26 at the Church of the Living God with Elder Homer Wingfield of Altus officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery under Greer Funeral Home direction. Born May 10, 1903 in Shreveport Louisiana, he came to Mangum about twenty years ago and worked at the compress and in farming. Surviving are a sister Mrs Mary Knox of Shreveport and a cousin Mrs Pearlyne Carrall of Amarillo Texas.

Roy Andrew Garrison 68 of Granite died December 25 in a Big Spring veterans hospital after a five year illness. Services were held in Sanders Memorial Chapel Lubbock with burial at The Peaceful Gardens Cemetery. He was born May 11, 1907, married Lola Lincecum in 1934, a World War I veteran and longtime grocer. Survivors include his wife, a son Donald R. Garrison, a brother O C Garrison, two sisters, and one grandchild.

Cancer Donations Hit the $1600 Mark
Contributions to the county cancer fund have reached 1600 dollars, including early December bazaar proceeds and cash gifts since then. A snowfall on December 23 and 24 gave Greer county its first white Christmas in years. An additional snow last Sunday added 1.6 inches of moisture, per Sandy Land Experiment Station records. Total yearly precipitation reaches 32.83 inches, 9.33 inches above the county average of 23.50.
