Oyster Bay Sept 5 The president appointed William B Sheppard United States district judge for the northern district of Florida He is a native Floridian born October 4 1860 in Bristol Liberty County and long practiced law in Apalachicola He studied at Mountain Home Emory College Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina He read law at Chapel Hill and with Fleming Daniel in Jacksonville. He served as collector of customs at Apalachicola from 1889 to 1893 and 1897 he was reappointed to a major position by McKinley He is a Knights of Pythias member and grand dictator of Knights of Honor He was district attorney for the northern district at Judge Swaynes death and held that post when appointed judge.
