J N McLean of Palmetto died after about ten days of illness. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2 PM with Masonic honors. He was a prominent citizen and former legislative candidate, held in high esteem by all who knew him. The Record extends sympathy to the bereaved.
The circuit court resumed Tuesday with Railroad Bill charged with assault with intent to murder. Jurors found him guilty. Wednesday's murder trials for Arthur Gill and Tom Smith were postponed due to Mrs. Fletcher's absence. Sheriff Wyatt had summoned sixty jurors but they were discharged with the continuance. Judge Wall strives to clear the docket and earns public thanks.
W F Rye of Mitchelville announces this week for County Commissioner for the district including Manatee Mitchelville and Oneeco. He is described as upright and capable and should make a splendid officer if elected. Dr T M McDuffee and Gen Joel House visited Beresford to meet Dr J M Samuel.
