A Florida letter from residents urges voters to back Stockton in the primary, arguing saloon interests seek to control state government. They warn against liquor influence and pledge to administer liquor laws as the people dictate, stressing morality and citizenship.
John N. Stockton appeals Florida voters to oppose Gilchrist by highlighting alleged saloon and railroad influence in his gubernatorial bid. He urges precinct by precinct action, claims Gilchrist’s nomination would be owed to liquor interests, and pledges to owe his own victory to patriotic citizens who resist those influences. He asks supporters to organize and predicts an overwhelming June 16th win.
Manatee Drilling Co led by W D Holcomb completes artesian well for K W Wiggins in East Manatee. The 515 foot cavity yields four to five hundred gallons per minute, supplying Wiggins and neighbors and potentially spreading to farms. The Wiggins well praised as among the best drilled.
