New Facts Used to Obtain Trial for Darrell Parker
About 60 relatives and friends attended a Lancaster county district court hearing in Lincoln Nebraska this week on Darrell Parkers petition for a new trial. He was convicted eight years ago of murdering his wife Nancy largely on a confession he later repudiated and claimed was coerced by a Chicago psychologist. The petition hinges on a letter said to be from Wesley Peery now in an Ohio prison to Charles Sedlacek of Crete Nebraska stating Parkers guilt. Judge John Polk has refused to admit the Peery letter as evidence though the issue will be argued further. A detective Ralph Peterson reported a suitcase found at the Parker home the day of the murder and later near Sedlaceks home with three new Nancy pillows bought days before the crime. Peery and Sedlacek had claimed in prison they had tipped Parker off to evidence.
