Social Happenings: Chambers Black Nuptials Sept 12

The First Baptist Church of Glenwood hosted the September 12 wedding of Linda Diane Chambers and Patrick L. Black in a double ring ceremony officiated by Rev. C. Marston. Attendants included maid of honor Thomasine Sprague and best man Tim Kuhl. A reception followed at the church with out of town guests listed from Des Moines, Winterest, Macksburg, and Council Rivers. The couple will reside at 336 Benton St. Council Rivers. Mrs. Wilson Hosts HSC Club Meets Sept 17 with 14 members present and Genelle Zanders joining. prizes awarded and refreshments served. Next meeting set for Oct 15 at Eunice Chamberlain’s home.

Mrs Salyers Hosts Student Librarians Dinner

Mrs R W Salyers hosted a dinner Tuesday for eight student librarians and a business meeting followed. Debbie McClure elected secondary drama. Malvern village residents Mr and Mrs Clint Jackson returned from a two week visit with their son Donald and family in Wausau Wisconsin. Donald Huey visited on Sunday and Monday. Monday supper guests included Mr and Mrs Frank Bret of Sargent Nebraska the Joe Erect family Crescent the Lawrence Schroeders the Robert Schroeders and the John Edwards families. Cleo Nosekabels of Sioux City stayed with Mr and Mrs Waller Nosekabel over the weekend.

Stoddards Move Aboard to Hot Springs and Nyren Trip

Wesley News reports Mr and Mrs D S Stoddard of Salem Ore arrived Tuesday to visit their sister and to move from Oregon to Hot Springs Ark. They dined with the Resh family and guests from Prescot and Co Bluffs over several evenings. Stoddards depart Saturday for their new home. Nyrens return from a 16 day Pacific Northwest trip visiting Tetons Yellowstone Grand Coulee and Mt Rainier meeting their son Paul, attending his wedding in Seattle, visiting Vancouver Island and Victoria, then returning via The Dalles and Salt Lake City.

East Liberty Visits and Hospital Stay Highlight Weekend

Mrs Phoee Goodell and Mrs Iva Fitch visited Council Bluffs as did Mr and Mrs Keith Wilcox of Auburn Nebraska and Larry Williams of Maryville Missouri. They stayed with their mother Mrs Lyle Williams who remains a patient at Extrimason hospital after surgery last Monday. Also visiting were Mr and Mrs Dick Pederson of Des Moines and Mrs Rodney Wahle for supper. Walter Stille and family were dinner guests near Emerson after morning services at the Emerson United Methodist Church where granddaughter Kathy played the organ for her first time.

East Liberty WSCS Plans Fall Activities

East Liberty WSCS met with nine attendees and reviewed lesson presentation on South Africa led by Josie Stetls. With no president present, vice president Golda Windle led the session and reports were given by secretary and treasurer Claude Stephens. They scheduled a san qual dinner and bazaar for October 15 and noted the next meeting on October 1.

Hastings Weekend Guests and Visits Across States

Weekend guests at the Inverest Waymire home included Mr. and Mrs. Roland Pierson of Wichita Kansas and Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Johnson of Stanton. Mrs Xira Scott returned home after weeks visiting family near Sand Springs Montana. The Eugene Waymire family joined Debbie and Mike Waymire and Barbara and Richard Langs of Sanford Nebraska for a Fremont Nebraska park picnic. Mrs Leona Turner and Mrs Oscar Leu of Malvern and Mrs Helen Quimby of Hastings accompanied Fritz Larson on these visits.

Harvest Sale Planned at Wesley Chapel October 14

At a church meeting plans were laid for the annual Harvest Sale to be held at the church on October 14 with rain date October 16. Committees formed include Sale, Publicity, Transportation, Solicitation, Grounds and Special Events. Attendees and guests from Hastings, Red Oak, Ames, and nearby communities joined in related events and visits to hospitals, schools, and libraries.

Weekend visitors and funeral notices in Ames area

Frerson and My with Jon Taravi spent Sunday in Ames while weekend guests included the Jack Sargent family of Hastings and Mrs Betty Conger of Decatur. WSCS served lunch after the funeral of Mrs Atce Blakesly. Local residents hosted Sunday dinners and attended showers and social visits across Red Oak Glenwood and Henderson with several family arrivals noted. A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Roger Smith Sunday evening, weighing 8 lbs 4 oz, joining four brothers at home.

Hastings WSCS Guest Night At Hastings Methodist Church

More than 50 guests from Mal vern Strahan Emerson Henderson Wesley Chapel and Hastings attended a WSCS guest night at Hastings Methodist Church Thursday. The Rev Terry offered prayer and a brief talk while attendees joined in a song fest. Mrs Mary Allely and Mrs Ben Wilson spoke on Grandma's dolls and several were on display. The next WSCS meeting is set for October 9 at 7 30 P M at the church.

The Nishna Valley Federated Women's Club held its first meeting of the new year on Sept. 17 at Mrs. Arthur Allensworth’s Henderson home with 16 members. dinner by the program committee led by Mrs. Richard Magers. The group planned upcoming events and presented yearbooks, with next gathering set for Oct. 16 at Mrs. Delaine Slump’s home.
