County Boards debate school district reorganization proposals
In Sidney a joint session of county boards and the Board of Education discussed proposed state K 12 reorganization. Theınıl proposals urged 8500 student local units, 20 000 per district optimum, taxation powers for intermediate units, and expanded vocational and regional services. Objections cited rural tax base strain, transportation, costs, loss of local control, and potential teacher bargaining power. Citizens urged to inform legislators and boards.
