Farm Bureau urges action against freight rate rise
The Mills county area faces a proposed freight rate increase affecting 22 states led by Iowa. If enacted, farmers would bear about half the added cost, with an estimated annual burden of 180 million dollars. A membership drive begins September 14 to unite farmers under the Farm Bureau and support 4H Club leadership, cooperative marketing, and improved farm methods to offset higher shipping costs. Local clubs plan talks by Mr. C. McRione and Otha D. Wearin to motivate youth and adults, while township work resumes with meetings and plans for 1925 dues.
