Summers Seed House A Growing Seed Industry in Ames
The Summers Seed House, started by John F. Summers on January 1, operates in the old Kneeland building. It markets pure bred corn, Reed's Yellow Dent, and a wide range of grains, grasses, vegetables, and poultry feed. Prof. Crossley of Ames praised Summers's breeding method and market plans, with demand growing so strong that all seeds sold early. The firm plans expansion, extra machinery, and full testing of seeds, aiming to double business next year and employ many local workers.
