Womans Club Tour Highlights Omaha Visits

Silver City Woman's Club members and guests rode a Greyhound bus to Omaha on October 18. They toured Offutt Air Force Base with a guide showing parachute fabrication, jet operations, and base housing, then visited the Swift Packing Plant to view meat cutting departments and sanitation practices.

Members tour companies and museum sites in Omaha region

A group began with lunch at Johnnie's Restaurant and split into two groups for alternate visits to the Union Pacific Museum and the World-Herald plant. The tour concluded at the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs with a demonstration of teaching methods. The group returned home at 5:45 p.m. The November 15 meeting will be hosted by Mrs Elizabeth McMahan with co-hostesses listed.

Funeral Services Held Friday for Mrs Omer Adair

Funeral services were conducted Friday for Mrs Omer Adair born Sarah Katherine Rice April 18 1884 in Harrison County Missouri who died October 18 1955 in Silver City at age 70. She married Omer Adair June 28 1903 in Allendale Missouri and leaves a large family including husband four daughters two sons and 37 grandchildren Survivors include daughters Mrs W J Waller Mrs Leona Ratcliff Mrs Ray Frink and Mrs Don Robbins and sons Harold and Kenneth plus three brothers and many friends She and her husband were longtime Emerson Baptist church members and her health declined after 1924 with care given at home.

Devoted wife dies after two decades in a chair

After twenty years confined to a wheelchair she remained cheerful through illness and family care. Funeral services were held Friday at Emerson Baptist Church with Rev. J. T. Parker officiating. Interment Emerson Cemetery. Attendees included numerous relatives from Silver City and surrounding towns. Mansfield funeral home in charge.

Family Dinner Held At Harvey Deitchler Home

A Glenwood group including Mr and Mrs Guy Skinner and others gathered at the Harvey Deitchler home to honor Mr and Mrs Lee Deitchler and daughters from Kansas City. Mrs J H Kruse visited her mother Mrs J J Walker in Randolph and attended Werhnook supper with guests from Hastings.

Community notices and gatherings fill weekly week

Ivergreen and M.Y.F. groups met Friday and Sunday with many members present. Donations were pledged to a local tower project. Several social events, dinners, plays, and baptisms are noted with dates, places, and attendees including Agnes Voss, Betty Low Pullman, Helen Knickman, Jimmy Miller, and Cindy Lee born Oct 24 at Mercy hospital.

Oaks News Brims With Servants and Gifts at Oaks

Sixty nine attended Oaks services on Sunday including a birthday for Joy Cole. The offering totaled 14068 dollars. A Cradle Roll program led by Mrs Tripat Jones and Mrs Fred Lemons distributed gifts to each child. Upcoming guests include Mr and Mrs Carl Castor and family from Osceola with musical numbers. Mildred Carlson bridal shower hosted by Mrs Carleton Davidson. visits from Mr and Mrs Lee Deitehler of Kansas City. and a farm sale near Elliott attended by Dean Warren.

Record Cattle Run at Omaha Market Monday

Omaha Monday set a new historical cattle and calf run, unofficially about 42,500 head with cattle alone surpassing 36,000. Western replacement cattle and calves led the total, while stockers and feeders traded mostly steady to 50 cents lower. better yearlings and calves steady to 50 cents down. Hog run reached 20,000, marking the biggest since year start, with butcher values slipping about 50 cents. Lambs varied, late trade strongest, woolled and shorn prices near 19 to 20.50. Readout lists include multiple hogs buyers from Mills County and nearby sellers with prices around 13.35 to 14.40 per hundredweight.
