Spotlight on Malvern Garden Club Marking 50th Year

The Malvern Garden club met October 14 in Malvern Methodist parlors to mark 50 years since its 1925 inception. Twenty two members attended with former active members Ruth Darrah, Helen Bass, Eulalie Hasselquist among guests. fall bouquets decorated the room and corsages were given to Hazel Summers and past presidents. Members shared memories, club history, and notes on community projects from plantings along highway 41 to rose beds near the community building, with Alma Knop and Bernice Bower leading the meeting and tea to follow.

Rita Simmonds to wed David Renz in Colorado Springs

Engaged Mrs. James R. Simmonds of Emerson announces the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter Rita Janine to David Walter Renz. The couple will marry in Colorado Springs where Miss Simmonds has been employed. They will live in Amarillo, Texas, where Mr. Renz works for Bell Helicopter.

Fall Biennial of Iowa Republican Women Attended

Mrs Bass Helen Bass of Malvern and Joan Ludington of Pacific Junction attended the Fall Biennial Convention of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women in Des Moines on Oct 16. Officers for two years were elected, including President Twyla Humpleby and VPs Claudine Mansfield Marie Mealiff June Kraft, with Mildred Elliott, Gwen Boeke as secretary and treasurer. Mary Louise Smith spoke, and Helen Bass earned a Mamie Eisenhower Library Project honor with a signed Ike book.

Dance club couples entertain Malvern villagers

Four couples from the Circle and Swing dance club of Omaha entertained Sunday afternoon in Malvern Village. Floyd Stouder and his wife were guests of village residents as part of the group. Others visited family and shared meals with local residents and relatives over the weekend.
