C W Davies Hillsdale Herd sale in Malvern on Saturday November 1 features top-quality Poland China stock from renowned strains. Davies invites readers to request a catalogue via his announcement in next week's paper.
The Eacretts hosted the Men's Brotherhood Class of the Methodist Sunday School for C E Eacrett's birthday. Friends arrived after a door alarm, shared games and visiting, then Mrs Eacrett and Mrs Criswell served pumpkin pie, sloughnuts and coffee. A memento was given and well wishes noted.
Official publication notice records a plat and schedule for a sanitary sewer project in Sewer Districts No 1 and 2 Malvern Iowa. It lists owners, parcels, and assessment amounts under Ordinances 89 and 90 with completion by Dunnegan Briggs dated April 15 1919. Objections must be filed by November 6 1919. town council will meet that day to set assessments after hearing.
A farm accident west of Randolph at Shannon left Arthur Dalton with severe hand injuries after his thumb and fingers were mangled by a corn sheller. He was taken to Edmundson hospital in Cornel Bluffs where doctors amputated all but a forefinger stub. Family and friends visited, and the injury is expected to cripple him.
Mrs R J Bently enjoyed a very pleasant birthday surprise Monday evening when about eighteen friends gathered at her daughter Alice’s invitation to celebrate. After a happy party, delicious refreshments were served and best wishes extended for many more birthdays. We also note the death of Mrs S B Crouse of northeast Malvern after a brief illness. Funeral services were held yesterday at three o'clock.
Obituary fragment notes a Baptist member named Wiley with Rev. Carl G. Tohnser as pastor and Rev. J. B. Wilkins from Amerson conducting services. She is survived by her husband, and son Frank, plus a grandson John Shaffer of Emerson. Full obituary to be published next week.
Two Poland China hog sales are set for Malvern this week. Tomorrow Friddy Mathews and Blezek will offer 60 head of big type hogs including 40 boars and 20 gifts in their annual sale. Saturday at Williams sale pavilion Carl Wilson presents a large lineup of 85 Poland Chinas including 29 boars and 6 large lots from the Big Bob and Tecumseh breeding strains. Plan to attend if you are interested in hogs.
The Church Of Christ announces 10:00 Sunday School and 11:00 Communion and preaching. A Bible School members contest awards prizes for renewal. Pastor absent at State Convention. Mayor Cadwell speaks morning. Evening features Miss Eline C M Johnson. Prayer meeting Wednesday at 7:30. Clocks set back. services held on old time. You are welcome.
