Growing Malvern Bakery Thrives Under Swoboda Craft
The Malvern Bakery, owned by Frank Swoboda, has grown from a small startup begun March 16, 1919, to full-capacity operation with plans for expansion. The plant uses electric machinery, a wood-fired oven, a sanitary wrap seal device, and ships bread in sealed packages. Swoboda emphasizes quality ingredients, cleanliness, and health clearances, with Grace Stogdill as clerk. The piece notes the business’s strong patronage, need for a larger building, and Swoboda’s plans to spend winters in Florida and summers westward.

Poultry experts urge early sale of market cockerels
Iowa State College poultry specialists advise farmers to market cockerels early if not kept for breeding. They note that after a two pound weight, each extra pound costs more feed than the initial pounds, and larger roosters typically fetch lower price per pound. Broilers or fries bring the best prices and profits.
