The Story Of A Small Town Magnolia Iowa
The story of Magnolia in Taylor County Iowa is told by Mrs Blanche C Sly in the September Palimpsest published by the State Historical Society. Magnolia became county seat in 1853 and promised future town growth before the Northwestern Railroad bypassed it by seven miles. In 1875 Logan captured the seat. Magnolia kept its spirit and public improvements, later connected to Logan by an auto bus line and housing a fine consolidated school building. It is birthplace and early home of Newell Dwight Hillis whose tribute is quoted.
