Malvern 39ers Hold Thanksgiving Dinner For Members

Malvern 39ers held their annual Thanksgiving turkey dinner on November 1 at the Malvern Community building with about 50 members attending. President Dorothy Churchman led a short business meeting, reported gains from a September pancake and sausage supper, and noted $200 was given to the Malvern Rescue Unit. Betty Tacket invited members to two plays at local venues, three turkey dinners were dispatched, and adjournment followed a brief business session.

Engagement announced for Bridget Cashatt and Daniel Nutting

Mr and Mrs Milton Wayne Cashatt of Glenwood announce the engagement of daughter Bridget Juliana to Daniel Alan Nutting son of Mr and Mrs Thomas J Nutting of Malvern. Both graduates of Glenwood Community High School in 1977 and 1976 respectively. They attend Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs. A wedding date will be announced later.

Annual Church Music Night Draws Hundreds in Glenwood

The Mills County Farm Bureau Women's Committee hosted the annual Church Music Night at First Baptist Glenwood on Sunday Oct 23. Choirs and soloists from Malvern, Glenwood, Mineola, Silver City and Hastings performed pieces including How Great Thou Art and I Have Decided to Follow Jesus. Benediction ended the program followed by refreshments and thanks to participating churches.

Faculty Dames Hold Baby Shower After Slides

Faculty Dames met Monday October 24 at Cleta Sal yers home. Dana Reed presented slides from her two years as an art instructor in Australia. A baby shower honored Suzanne Woolsey and Joseph Ryan, with gifts and lunch. Next meeting November 17 at Chantry lunch room will focus on flower arrangements.

Memorial Service Held by United Methodist Women

On November 3 a memorial service was held at the church for Edna Johnson Gertie McFall and Florence Owens. Twenty one members attended the United Methodist Women meeting. December’s meeting will join the Martha Circle on December 1 at 7 30 p.m. Lois Hering Opal Stille and Edith Schnoor were hostesses.

Glenwood Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution met on Tuesday Nov 1 at the Malvern home of Jessie Wearin for guest night. Honorary State Regent Mrs Ermal McMichael spoke on Famous Revolutionary Women. Gifts were collected for Veteran hospital patients for Christmas. About 1,000 youth education professionals met for a four day conference. Ambrose Brazelton of Ohio State spoke on inclusive education in a keynote titled Deal Me In. Sessions covered behavior skills and recreation education. committees advanced policy, public relations, and professional improvement work. The National Association of Extension 4-H Agents recognized long service and distinguished contributors.
