On Monday afternoon the Baptist Women conducted their Annual Day of Prayer. Spiritual Life Chairman Mrs. Vaughn Hoover led the program with pianist Mrs. Delmar McConkey assisting. BYF Organizes For Current Year Meet at Frederickson Home

The Baptist Youth Fellowship Group met Sunday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Frederickson. Janet Scarff was elected president, Karl Frederickson vice president, and Lora McConkey secretary treasurer. They planned devotional programs and recreation ideas. Refreshments were served by Lora McConkey.

Life Memberships in ISEA to Two Malvern Teachers

Two Malvern educators receive life memberships in the Iowa State Education Association. Jessie Frazier taught in Malvern from 1945 to 1903 and Hazel Lockahill taught in Glenwood and Malvern schools. the awards honor at least 20 years of active ISA membership and provide dues free entry to ISA publications and conventions.

Dinner planned for Bill Scherle tribute in Shenandoah

Deputy Counsel to the President Clark Mollenhoff and Iowa Congressman Bill Scherle briefly discussed the Bill Scherle Appreciation Dinner to be held Saturday November 8 at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Warren. Senior Class Play Lower for Al gernon at new high building

Plan good play for Nov 13 and 15. The Senior Class presents Lower for Al Gernon, adapted from the film Charly, about a man who volunteers for a medical experiment that raises his IQ but later risks regression. Performances start 8 p.m. with 35 cents for students and 75 cents for adults. Presented Nov 15 and 16 at the new Jr Sr High building.

Final Rites for Mrs Wiseman

Funeral services for Elma May Wiseman 83 were held at Mansfield Funeral Home led by Rev Clar ence Wool Jared. She died November 1 after a long illness with burial in Hastings cemetery. She was born September 21 1886 near Early Iowa joined the Early church young and married Earl Wiseman in 1910. They moved to Tabor then Graham Community where she spent most of her life. Survived by sons Leonard Valsete Ore Herbert Edward John at home Richard Tillamook Ore daughter in law Vera Isom and Ruth Cavin Salem Ore and Mildred Goodman Orient Ia plus one grandchild and three great grandchildren. one son Donald preceded her in death.

Tabor Driver Injured in Mills Accident Tuesday

Marlene Horst of Tabor was hospitalized at Grape Community after a Tuesday morning crash at highways 34 and 278 when braking caused her car to overturn at the intersection. A separate Tuesday night county accident near Silver City involved a station wagon driven by Terry Wichert of Glenwood running into a ditch after being blinded by oncoming headlights.

Peru State welcomes 1251 students for 103rd Fall Semester

Eighteen students from Fremont county and 17 from Mills county are among the 1,251 enrolled for the 103rd academic Fall semester at Peru State College. Good Neighbors Help Harvest Shaws and Kelleys

Good neighbors in Harvest aided two Mills County families in harvest work on Oct 26. Four acres of soybeans were harvested for Mrs. Roger Shaw southeast of Hastings by 14 men with 5 combines. At the Dwight Kelley farm near Emerson, 53 men used 13 combines to harvest soybeans in five hours. Both families recently suffered fatalities in a Missouri traffic crash.

Former resident Clyde W. Baird dies in Omaha

Clyde W. Baird, formerly of Malvern, died October 18 in Omaha. He was the son of Clyde W. Baird, an early Malvern postmaster, and news of his death came to friends recently.
