Final Rites for Mrs Ethel O Dell Held Saturday
Final rites were held at Mansfield Funeral Home for Mrs Ethel O Dell who died October 28 after weeks of illness. Rev Hugh Shiveley and Rev John Lippincott conducted the service with music by Richard Gay and Mrs Austin Bass. Pallbearers were Charles Pevehouse Harold Terry Ralph Bower Kenneth Allensworth Kenneth Jones and Raymond Waller. Burial was in Malvern cemetery. She was born May 28 1908 at Conway Iowa daughter of John and Rebecca Reeves and married Delbert O Dell in May 1928. The family lived in Glenwood before moving to Malvern in 1944 where they ran the Gamble Store for about ten years. She later worked for Pace Service Co. Surviving are her husband son Alan four granddaughters sister Edith Wiley Des Moines a brother Homer Reeves Clarinda and many relatives and friends.

Edwin Barkus investigates a Glenwood incident where Fran ces Mason was egged by three cars at nine pm while awaiting work at the state school. Mason required medical aid for bruises. In Malvern four underage boys face fines totaling 18 dollars for tampering with a motor vehicle and two additional youths are fined for disturbing the peace after egging a house.

Two Brake Failures Reported In Mills County Accidents
Two Mills County crashes linked to brake failures were reported by the sheriff. A 1965 model car driven by Donald Delashmutt Jr. of Pacific Junction lost brakes on a county road southwest of Glenwood Saturday evening, ending in a ditch with $500 damage and no injuries. A truck driven by Ralph L. Viner of Emerson failed to stop north of Silver City Tuesday evening, crossing the road and ending in a ditch with $880 damage.

Four Boys Released After Investigation
Four boys arrested in Mills county were turned over to Grand Island Nebraska authorities for investigation and later released. One boy was released to his parole agent and another, a Grand Island resident, was sent home. Two Red Oak residents were released to their parents.

Private Meyer Graduates From Marine Recruit Training
Marine Private Ervin Meyer, son of Mr and Mrs Albert C Meyer of Malvern Route 2, graduated October 25 from the Marine Recruit Depot San Diego after eight weeks of intensive training. He learned small arms marksmanship bayonet fighting drill history and traditions of the Marine Corps and will proceed to Camp Pendleton for four weeks of advanced infantry training before assignment to a school or unit.
