Presbyterian Fight Flare Follows Administrative Reorg Move
In Kansas City on May 27 during the Presbyterian General Assembly a heated debate over reorganizing the church's administrative agencies surfaced, with calls to replace the existing 21 member committee. The vote adopted the committee recommendations, but an amendment to form a new committee to include all current non-board members was later defeated after extended session. In Sioux City, May 27, the election of Rev. Dr. W. S. Lewis as bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church sparked talk about his future plans to complete a $500,000 endowment for Morningside College and possible western episcopal tenure.
