A long list of community updates records visits, births, marriages, and deaths in Shenandoah and Malvern. Carl A. Hall died Friday evening May 18 in Malvern after years of poor health a brief final illness. Funeral services were held at Tate Wome Third Avenue Luann church with Rev J B Wilkins delivering the sermon Miss Ruth Cadwell and Louise Hieor sang. pallbearers were his brothers and local Wood Fellows. Obituary notes he was born February 27 1881 in Sweden, emigrated to America in 1900, lived in Malvern most of his life, married Anna Johnson January 20 1896, and left wife and three children Edythe Ikbert and Stewart. He leaves five brothers Alfred Fred Ernest Eric Otto and a sister group, plus relatives across Iowa Nebraska California. He was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church in Sweden at 15.
Mrs Vesta Obrist proprietor of the Cottage Hotel and Mr J H Norris of Omaha married in Omaha on Thursday May 17. They returned to the city later that week to reside and receive good wishes from friends. Also notes of visits, a new Chevrolet, and local social events appear as brief items.
Rev C O Stuckenbruck of Council Bluffs, a noted speaker and lecturer, will deliver the Memorial Day sermon at Merconist Church next Sunday morning at eleven. He comes recommended as a lecturer and preacher, with services furnished by the local Presbyterian church.
The Shenandoah O. E. S. hosted seven chapters in honor of visiting grandmatron and grand patron. About 300 attendees included 20 from Malvern by car or train. Malvern officers Mrs. H. A. Walker and Mrs. Fred Durbin assisted. Representatives from Sidney Randolph Malvern Farragut Tabor Wandhard Red Oak attended. Farragut sent a large delegation. Refreshments followed the work and address by the envoy matron.
Glenwood resident John Schwaller, a well known character from the Institution, visited old Malvern friends last Sunday. He enjoyed the trip, attends church monthly, thanks Dr. Mogridge for the permit, and is noted for a keen memory for faces, names, and dates. Mrs Jesse Ell urges orders for a large lot of flowers for decoration.
