Malvern Nine Loses Opener In Mineola Thriller
Malvern manager Elmer Krogman fielded a newly formed nine in their opener at Mineola. Despite leading 9-6 in the sixth, Malvern faltered as Mineola exploded for 10 runs in the frame. Reed and Richardson homered and doubled for Malvern, but 16 Malvern errors doomed the effort. Mineola backstop Brothers Rohrbert starred with three hits, while L. and E. in the outfield and mound combined for multiple hits. Krogman’s squad, short-handed by baccalaureate duties, expects full strength after this. Corporate sponsors and local businesses funded uniforms and equipment for the team.
