Honor Society Elects New Officers at Nishna Valley

Nishna Valley high school's National Honor Society held a May meeting electing Susan Steiner as president Judy Geith as vice president and Diane Lakin as secretary-treasurer. Their duties begin with the 1962-63 school year.

Field trip planned for biology class trip May 16

Biology classes will take a three hour field trip on Wednesday afternoon May 16. Mr Greenwood will drive the bus leaving at 12 30 p m. Students will observe living aspects studied this year.

Nishna Valley Music Program Set for May 22 in Gym

The Nishna Valley music department will present a program Tuesday May 22 at 8 pm in the high school gymnasium. The public is invited and a free will offering will be taken to help purchase awards for eligible department members.

NV Juniors Rush to Complete Prom and Banquet Plans

The 1962 NV prom nears as juniors rush to decorate the gym while mothers prepare banquet food. Sophomores arrange entertainment and seniors draft wills and a class prophecy. The school community works intensely, aiming for a successful event.

Seniors Score Hit With Class Play

The senior class play Seventeen is Terrific was staged in the gym last Tuesday evening directed by Mr. Dobbins as Mrs. Thorson hospitalizes. Proceeds boosted the treasury and readers are urged to buy annuals from Cherri Rowe or staff before May 23.

Freshmen Plan Waubonsie Park Picnic

Linda Larsen reports Nishna Valley freshmen plan a picnic at Waubonsie state park on Friday May 25. A bus departs the school at 2 20 PM and returns about 7 30 PM. The group thanks Mr Terry, the class sponsor, for arranging the outing.

Glenwood Coed on SU Honors List at Iowa Convocation

Glenwood coed Mary LaRue, Mills county student, earned honors at the University of Iowa convocation in Iowa City on May 19. She maintains a straight B average or better and is a liberal arts senior. Miss LaRue is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh LaRue of Glenwood.
