Taft Signs Modified Stierwood Pension Bill Into Law
The Taft administration attached his signature to a revised civil war pension bill, now law. The compromise, after Senate and House differences, increases pensions by 35 million dollars over three years for about 420,965 veterans. Provisions set monthly pensions by age and service, with special cases for wounded or disabled veterans and 60 day Mexican War service, under the act of May 4, 1912.
