Wheat Allotments Mailed Ahead of May 21 Referendum

Notices of 1964 crop wheat acreage allotments are mailed to wheat farms. Chairman Burgoin explains allotments reflect the national 1964 total of 49.5 million acres, with small farms under 15 acres using the larger of the national or 1959 61 average, up to 15 acres. Participation requires May 13 registration. If quotas win, price support and diversion payments apply. if defeated, partial parity price and no diversion. Allotments stay in effect regardless of the referendum.

Wheat producers urged to register to vote in May referendum

Mills county Farm Bureau official urges small wheat producers to register by May 13 to vote in the May 21 wheat referendum. Signing the provision may still yield a no vote but commits to program participation. Non signing keeps producers within allotment and risks penalties and loss of price support.
